NAD  1600  preamp / tuner The 1600 delivers the same performance as tuner and preamp separates, but without the extra cost of a second metal chassis, front panel, power supply circuit, etc. It offers all of the preamp & tuner features detailed below, with the added convenience of a remote control which allows connection of power amplifiers near to your speakers.
As a
tuner, the 1600 combines ease of operation with excellent sensitivity and accurate, musical sound. Its MOSFET front end and FM-NR quieting circuit deliver clean, noise-free reception of a broad range of signals, while its Narrow I.F. Mode singles out difficult stations with ease, even on a crowded dial. With a good broadcast its low-distortion quadrature detector and precise phase-locked-loop [ PLL ] multiplex decoder deliver unsurpassed sound quality across a broad stereo stage.

As a
preamp, the 1600 offers exceptional operating flexibility with logical controls and an elegantly simple front panel design. The remote control selects six inputs, tunes to a station [ 14 presets, or up / down seek ], adjusts volume and power on / off. Remote volume [ up ] or low level [ down ] commands activate a small motor that turns the volume control, avoiding the noise and veiling of purely electronic level control circuits.

Convenience Features : NAD's Bank Selector gives you new flexibility to programme any desired combination of AM & FM stations into the 14 memory presets – for example rock in one set, classical, sports, MOR, maori, hip-hop etc collected together by music type.
