Proton  D940 stereo receiver - dark  grey :

Features :
1987 vintage 40W bridgeable stereo receiver
   No remote control

The Proton D940 stereo AM/FM receiver has been carefully developed with complete emphasis on the quality of sound
Whether adding to an existing audio or video system or as part of an all new system, you are certain to notice several performance characteristics which make Proton products among the very best regardless of price
One of the important characteristics of the Proton D940 is the exceptionally noise free FM performance made possible by the inclusion of our Schotz noise reduction system in an extremely sensitive audio tuner
Also, our exclusive Dynamic Power on Demand [DPD] amplifier produces unsurpassed levels of dynamic power

In a 100 ms test, the receiver drives 150 watts per channel to an 8 ohm load, 220 watts per channel to a 4 ohm load and 230 watts to a 2 ohm load, and it has 6 dB of headroom
The D940 has outputs for two sets of stereo speakers [A and B]
The frequency response curve is from 20Hz to 20 kHz, ± 0.2 dB. At the rated power level, the total harmonic distortion is 0.02 percent, and the intermodulation distortion is 0.06 percent
Both distortion levels are so low as to be practically negligible
The damping factor is > 90 indicates tight control of difficult speaker loads
The receiver has a MM/MC phono input, radio tuner, video, digital audio and two tape inputs with multi-directional dubbing
The phono preamp has a switchable setting for low-output MC phonograph cartridges or high-output MM cartridges, as well as three-way adjustable capacitance for setting the response of the preamp
Preamp in / outs :   removable pre out / main in  links for use as a separate tuner / preamplifier,  or as a power amplifier
The receiver is bridgeable, [both channels can be used to drive a common mono load, rear switched, be careful in for stereo, green button out is bridged]
